Reading Evaluations
Changes in federal legislation brought about by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act make accountability for results in reading a national priority. Reading failure greatly affects student motivation and school performance, and over time has tremendous effect on dropout rates. Improved early reading instruction can be the first step toward raising academic achievement to ensure that all students have the reading skills necessary for success in school and life. Teachers need the best teaching resources available and up-to-date information on how to use scientifically based reading methods to teach reading skills.
MGT has been at the forefront of educational improvement by assisting state education agencies in evaluating their federal reading grants. Since 1999, MGT has evaluated 10 statewide Reading First and Reading Excellence Act programs in eight states. As the nation's number one evaluator of statewide reading programs, we have developed an extensive methodology for evaluating the implementation and impact of statewide reading programs using a Web-based data collection system.
Our approach to evaluating reading programs provides states and local school districts with the information that they need to raise the caliber and quality of classroom instruction and improve reading skills.
