Learning Technology Evaluation Center (LTEC)

Software publishers invest huge amounts of time, energy, and money in the development of products to be used in the classroom. Consequently, they must make every effort to ensure that their products are successful in the marketplace. That effort must include both initial and ongoing feedback from real students and teachers in real classrooms. Publishers need to know about their products’ installation, ease of use, effectiveness, and integration into the curriculum. This “testing” of the product in actual classroom settings can provide strong evidence to support marketing efforts and provide critical feedback on needed improvements that will increase the product’s market attractiveness.

MGT’s LTEC staff has an extensive background in research based on sound principles and a national reputation in education. With 30 years of experience working with school districts, administrators, teachers, and students, our staff has had the opportunity to work with some of the nation’s leading educational technology developers to provide objective, third-party evaluations of their products.

We work with publishers to choose the range of classroom settings necessary for effective product evaluations and to secure the agreements of school districts to participate in product evaluations and studies. We then evaluate software in real classroom settings and provide critical feedback to the publishers. We also assist companies in matching state standards to product curricula and conduct independent school-based beta testing of educational products. As a result of these studies, we are able to make recommendations to help publishers ensure that their products not only meet the needs of teachers and students, but are aggressively sought after by schools.

LTEC provides a full range of evaluation services for publishers and developers of software, on-line curricula, and other educational technology. Services include:
